LA VISTA, Neb. - Jan. 12, 2015 - Securities America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS), completed a year of charitable activities with a cold weather gear donation drive for Heart Ministry Center in Omaha.
Home office employees of the independent broker-dealer donated more than 340 items, including coats, blankets, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, scarves, socks and boots. These items will be distributed through the center to keep others safe and warm through the winter.
"It is a rewarding experience to see our employees reach out and provide assistance to others in our community in need," said Jim Nagengast, CEO and president of Securities America. "The contributions of our team were especially remarkable this year, as we celebrated a milestone for Securities America and had the opportunity to enrich the lives of others in many ways."
The Heart Ministry Center in Omaha focuses on helping people break the cycle of poverty. The facility offers a clothing closet, community garden, food pantry, resource center, legal clinic, outreach events, health care, dental services, youth mentoring, classes and a self-sufficiency program.
This drive was the third philanthropic initiative by the independent broker-dealer in 2014 as it celebrated its 30th Anniversary. At the Connect National Conference in June, advisors and employees donated to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, raising more than $64,500 to fight childhood cancer. In August employees had the opportunity to serve a meal at the Siena/Francis House and collect needed supplies to be delivered there.
