Securities America Awards Two UNO Students Scholarships
La Vista, Neb. – Nov. 25, 2015 - Securities America has awarded two scholarships to University of Nebraska Omaha students, Nathaniel Novak and Kayla Hurd.
An Omaha native, Novak is a junior majoring in accounting and a member of the Maverick Investment Club.
“This scholarship gives me an opportunity to explore new avenues, which I plan to bring to future employment,” Novak said. “I’m thankful to all who made it possible.”
Originally from Doniphan, Neb., Hurd is also a junior major in accounting. She is an active member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary society for accounting and finance students.
“I can’t thank Securities America enough. With the help from this scholarship, I can continue to pay my own way toward a four-year degree,” Hurd said. “I am a first-generation student, and with this help from Securities America, I will be able to achieve my goal of gaining a bachelor’s degree.”
The annual Securities America scholarship started in 1995 and provides two $2,500 cash awards to undergraduates at UNO and the opportunity to participate in an internship with the company. Selection is based on maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average, leadership skills, verbal communication skills and accomplishments through other experiences.
