La Vista, Neb. - Nov. 4, 2011 Securities America has awarded the Securities America University of Nebraska Omaha Scholarship for a master's in business administration to Blake Maaske.
Maaske graduated from Dana College with a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration. During his time at Dana, he made the dean's list, participated as a member of the Dana Diplomats and was a four-year Senior Business Club Representative, often attending Berkshire-Hathaway meetings. Maaske also played varsity basketball for Dana and received the senior award. Maaske said following a business education from the University of Nebraska Omaha, he plans to pursue law school and become an entrepreneur.
"I am honored to be the recipient of this year's Securities America scholarship," Maaske said. "I am the first in my family to enroll in graduate school, and without generous scholarship offers from patrons like Securities America, graduate school would be even more difficult."
The Securities America scholarship provides a $3,000 cash award and the opportunity to participate in an internship with the company. Selection is based on grade point average, with a 3.0 minimum, leadership skills, oral communication skills and accomplishments through undergraduate training and other experiences.
