LA VISTA, Neb. - Nov. 21, 2013 - Kimberly J. Kropp, CFP©, ChFC©, CLU©, a registered representative with Securities America and owner of Moylan Kropp Retirement Planning in Omaha, Neb., has been named to the Financial Services Institute's newly formed Financial Advisor Council. Securities America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS).
The Financial Services Institute (FSI) is an advocacy organization for independent financial services firms and independent financial advisors. FSI formed the new Financial Advisor Council to:
- advise its staff and board on the effect of proposed legislative and regulatory changes on independent financial advisors;
- help identify emerging issues that may affect independent financial advisors;
- provide input on ways to motivate and equip financial advisors to leverage effective working relationships with policymakers;
- offer feedback on programs that reinforce FSI's independent channel messaging so that independent advisors are recognized by consumers as the advisors of choice;
- brainstorm ways to enhance the value of financial advisor membership in FSI.
Kropp has worked in financial services since 1986 and as an independent financial advisor since 1996.
"I believe that, whatever your occupation, you need to support the career you're in and do what you can to make it better," Kropp said. "With the new council, FSI is raising the level of financial advisor participation in its mission to create a more responsible regulatory environment for independent broker- dealers and their affiliated independent financial advisors through effective advocacy, education and public awareness. I'm pleased and honored to be helping people who do the same work I do to serve our clients."
Securities America has a long history of supporting FSI. Jim Nagengast, CEO and president of the firm, chaired FSI's 2012 national conference, and Richard Lampen, CEO and president of Ladenburg Thalmann, Securities America's parent company, currently serves on FSI's board of directors.
"When you are involved in helping others in your community - and that includes the independent broker/dealer community - good things happen to you," Nagengast said. "We're proud to have dedicated advisors like Kim in our advisor community at Securities America and in our local community in the Omaha area as well. I know Kim will provide thoughtful feedback to FSI and serve as a role model to other advisors on the importance of joining this organization. Increasing membership makes FSI's efforts more important in the eyes of those on Capitol Hill and provides funding for FSI's mission: to vigorously and effectively advocate for independent broker/dealers, independent advisors and their clients."
