FPA of Nebraska Awards Securities America-Sponsored CFP® Scholarship
La Vista, Neb. – March 3, 2015 - The Financial Planning Association of Nebraska has awarded its Securities America-sponsored CFP® scholarship to Michael Potter, a financial advisor with Nelson Murphy Insurance & Investments in Omaha, Neb.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants had to be residents of Iowa or Nebraska who are admitted to a registered program administered by an accredited university, college or other institution. The recipient was also required to have demonstrated academic, professional and community accomplishments.
“As an advisor, I try to educate clients, motivate them to do better and partner with them,” Potter said. “Getting the CFP® certificate will provide me the opportunity to learn what’s evolving in the marketplace to serve my clients better and give them a strategic advantage.”
Potter is enrolled in the CFP® Certificate Program at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from Phoenix University. He volunteers as a leader in the Trail Life USA program and is an assistant baseball and softball coach.
